I never liked artificially designed challanges in total war games. It should have been made into a separate criteria, after all it’s the thing the game and the historical period it’s based on revolves around.Ĥ. ![]() I understand that they tried to make winning conditions more robust with the victory points system, but completely divorcing the victory conditions from the end-game event, the sea people invasion, feels immersion-breaking for me. Their armies mostly stand around cities waiting for the player to fight them, one faction at a time.ģ. Looking at diplomacy, most of them were only in wars with the scripted invaders. And the factions themselves don’t seem to fight too much among eachother. ![]() Not only that, but you can basically make peace at any time if you find yourself stretched too thin, just by trading off a settlement. In my 2 and a half campaigns I haven’t been declared war on not even once. You have only two options roughly, no matter where you start: up or down.Ģ. The size is ok, but in terms of strategic planning, there’s a sense of verticality that limits your expansion options. Now, after having achieved ultimate victory with Amenmesse and being halfway through an Irsu campaing, I still don’t find the game bad, but there are certainly some weird things I experienced, that I haven’t seen mentioned in other posts.ġ. Or stuff about the map being too small, the price too high. ![]() Stuff like, hey CA, we want a new historical total war, but not THIS historical total war. I played the game in early access for a few hours, so as soon as it was released I wrote a positive review just to counterbalance what I see as unwarranted hate. ![]()
